Increasing My Whuffie
I just got home from the office after a dreadfully long day full of political and government work (and yes, I sold my soul the moment I decided to work on anything involving government & politics). As I stepped into my apartment I noticed a manila package on the floor. Excitement flared in my mind – what did i get? a gift from my girlfriend? a friend’s film or art?
I picked up the package and examined it. random house…but I don’t remember ordering a book So I ripped open the package and as I did so, I realized what it was:

the contents of the package
I had replied to a twitter message from Tara Hunt in which she had asked if anyone would be interested in reviewing her new book The Whuffie Factor. Tara and her publishers have been kind enough to send me a copy (and, btw: @missrogue: collectively my sites get far more than 5 viewers
). According the website:
The Whuffie Factor is a breakthrough book, providing the strategic map and specific tactics for success in the lucrative, but strange and elusive world of online communities. As Tara Hunt has found, online success comes from building a community and being part of it – not by pushing a product or service. If you want to learn the secret sauce behind Facebook, Twitter, or YouTube, you have to use them until you love them.
I will get around to reading the book soon. I must admit that I am an impulsive book buyer and I usually end up buying 5 books at a time only to read 1 or 2 of them and revisit the others over time. That leaves a lot of unread books in my possession – but I think I will definitely get around to this, after I finish Neil Postman’s Technopoly. I will write a detailed review of the book once I finish and I will probably post or twitter my reactions as I read through it. I’ll probably finish it very soon because social media marketing is of huge importance to me – plus I think it will be good for my whuffie.

Why we need Whuffie
